Introduction: Quality Inspection — The Gatekeeper of Excellence
Stainless steel pipe quality inspection is critical to ensuring safe pipeline operation. From raw material receipt to finished product shipment, a qualified stainless steel pipe passes through multiple inspection stages: chemical composition analysis, mechanical property testing, non-destructive testing, dimensional inspection, and surface examination. Wenqiang Stainless Steel strictly implements ISO 9001 quality management with comprehensive testing on every pipe.
Chemical Composition Analysis
Chemical composition is the 'DNA' of stainless steel quality. Wenqiang employs a German SPECTRO optical emission spectrometer for full-element analysis (C/Si/Mn/P/S/Cr/Ni/Mo/Ti/Nb) on every heat of incoming material, verifying compliance with GB/T, ASTM, or EN standards. For low-carbon grades like 316L, additional carbon analysis confirms C ≤ 0.03%.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
1. Eddy Current Testing (ECT): 100% testing on every pipe. Detects internal and external cracks, laps, and inclusions.
2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT): For thick-wall pipes (wall 6mm) — detects internal volumetric defects.
3. Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT): For fitting weld surfaces — detects surface-breaking cracks and incomplete fusion.
4. Hydrostatic Testing: Every pipe tested at 1.5× working pressure with minimum 5-second hold time.
Wenqiang's ECT equipment uses multi-frequency, multi-channel technology achieving detection sensitivity meeting and exceeding GB/T 7735 Grade A requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the smallest defect ECT can detect?
A: Eddy current testing detects minimum defects of approximately 0.3mm in pipe walls (depending on pipe diameter and wall thickness). Wenqiang's multi-frequency multi-channel ECT system meets and exceeds GB/T 7735 Grade A sensitivity.
Q2: Does hydrostatic testing damage the pipe?
A: No. While test pressure exceeds working pressure, it remains well below the material's yield strength, causing no damage. Post-test pipes must be promptly drained and dried to prevent water stain corrosion.
Q3: Can Wenqiang's test reports be third-party certified?
A: Yes. Wenqiang maintains long-term partnerships with SGS, TÜV, BV, and Lloyd's Register. Third-party witnessed testing and joint inspection reports can be arranged per customer requirements.
